Sepp Straka of Team symplr celebrates PGA TOUR victory
Team symplr golf ambassador Sepp Straka wins his second PGA TOUR victory at the John Deere Classic in Silvis, Illinois. Straka's awe-inspiring journey from a challenging first-round score of 73 to a career-low final round of 62, featuring 9 birdies and an eagle, catapulted him to the top of the leaderboard, securing the victory.

Karlene Kerfoot awarded Lifetime Achievement Award
Karlene Kerfoot, chief nursing officer (CNO) at symplr, was awarded a Lifetime Achievement award from Bonnie Barnes of The Daisy Foundation. She was showered with affection from symplr employees and honored by nursing leader notables and peers in a video with words of thanks from Linda Knodel, former Chief Nurse Executive, Kaiser Permanente, Patricia Mook, SVP of Nursing Operations at Advocate Health, MaryBeth Kingston, EVP, CNO of Advocate Aurora Health, Robyn Begley, CEO of AONL, SVP Workforce, AHA and others.
“Karlene is one of the smartest and most insightful nurses I have ever known,” said Dr. Peter Buerhaus. “Perhaps more importantly, Karlene is a good person. She helps you feel better about yourself, and you become better because of her. On a scale of 1 to 10, measuring meaningful and lasting contributions to the nursing profession, Karlene scores a 50 in my book.”

Unleashing the power of optimized operations for patient care
Linda Knodel, MHA, MSN, FACHE, FAAN, former chief nurse executive and SVP of patient care services at Kaiser Permanente and Mercy Health, reflected on optimizing healthcare operations, data connectivity and technology to improve patient care in an article published in KevinMD. She highlighted the urgency to improve health systems’ operations, calling healthcare leaders to join symplr’s healthcare operations pledge.
She said, “I’d urge health systems to act now because the risk of inaction is too high. Health care operations are a critical underpinning that can prevent or set off a catastrophic chain of events. When health care operations and technology aren’t optimized and clinicians are overly burdened by technology rather than empowered by it, there is a risk of medical errors, morbidity and even patient mortality.”
