A Fireside Chat with the symplr and Susan G. Komen CEOs

Every year, more than 250,000 people in the U.S. are diagnosed with breast cancer. Those diagnoses rattle lives and create new worries, questions, and uncertainties for thousands of individuals and the people who love them.

At symplr, we wanted to do something to help.

That’s why, in May, symplr launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to raise donations in support of Susan G. Komen—one of the nation’s leading breast cancer research organizations. Our campaign mirrored Komen’s own internal fundraising efforts to provide new resources that could help meet the most vital needs in our communities and support groundbreaking research to prevent and cure this disease.

We paired our fundraising campaign with new breast cancer awareness and education initiatives inside symplr. And we sponsored activities like in-person walks and “walk where you are” opportunities for our employees—who reside in 46 states—a testament to our commitment to maintain a remote-first culture yet unite as one force.

As part of our wider partnership with Susan G. Komen, on November 28 I will sit down for a fireside chat with my good friend, Paula Schneider, who serves as the organization’s president and CEO. We’ll discuss Komen’s amazing work in raising awareness about the importance of regular screenings and early detection to combat this disease. Komen is making incredible strides, and our hope is to highlight how they’ve been successful in making a difference in the lives of so many. I’m also planning to share a little more about why symplr decided to partner with Komen in the first place.

During October, we accomplished a great deal for Breast Cancer Awareness Month: our 17 employee-led symplr Komen teams participated in nine in-person Komen walks across the country and in Komen’s “Walk Where You Are” virtual event. Our team members also took part in a symplr Payroll Giving Challenge to benefit Komen.

For symplr, a company that’s in the business of helping healthcare providers and professionals provide quality care, our partnership with Komen is a natural extension of our values. For example, we take pride in our brand promise that symplr is compass in a constantly shifting healthcare landscape, with an unwavering focus on helping patients, providers, payers, and staff navigate current and emerging challenges. We believe that better healthcare operations lead to better outcomes for all. And most of all, we believe that when we do our jobs well, clinicians and staff have more time to do what they do best: care for patients.

We’re excited about the work we’ve done and will continue to do together, and the impact that our partnership with Susan G. Komen can have. If you’re interested in listening to the fireside chat about our partnership, breast cancer awareness, and more, please tune in on November 28 at 1:00 PM CT.
