President & CEO
A 25+ year veteran of the software industry, Rick has held senior executive, marketing and technical positions in a number of leading software companies across a wide range of industries, including systems and database management, application development, healthcare and aerospace. Prior to Joining symplr, Rick was the founder, President and CEO of Idera which he grew to become a multi-national company with a broad product portfolio used by over 12,000 companies worldwide. Before that Rick was Chief Marketing Officer at NetIQ Corporation, VP of Products & Marketing at Mission Critical Software, VP of Marketing at Platinum Technology, and SVP of Marketing at LBMS. Rick has also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence for Austin Ventures, is active as a board member and advisor for a number of early stage companies, and is a recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer, Jordan Copland brings three decades of finance and operations experience to symplr. Most recently he served as EVP Finance and Operations - CFO at Quorum Software, provider of an industry-leading portfolio of finance, operations and accounting software for the energy industry. At Quorum he helped lead the company through several mergers and acquisitions as well as the successful sale of the business in 2018. Copland brings to symplr CFO and business development experience in software, technology, and consumer products across a host of private equity-owned, venture-backed and public companies. He has run multinational business operations in Europe and has successfully completed a number of international M&A transactions. Copland holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School.
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Workforce and Credential Management
Julie is responsible for managing symplr’s workforce management businesses, including vendor and general credentialing, visitor management, and API Healthcare. In her role, she partners with healthcare organizations to help them achieve their goals in compliance, safety, and security, while reducing risk. Prior to joining symplr, Julie served in a senior role at ProviderTrust, a leading SaaS provider credentialing company. Previously, she was Vice President of Sales at the National Healthcareer Association, a division of Ascend Learning, a SaaS healthcare credentialing company focused on allied health professionals. Julie received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Valparaiso University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Lipscomb University.
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Provider Credentialing Services
A healthcare industry veteran, with over 20 years in management and executive roles, Patrick has a wide range of experience in hospital, managed care, payer and physician practice operations management. At symplr Patrick is responsible for managing our payer enrollment business operations. Prior to joining symplr Patrick was Chief Operating Officer at MedKinetics, a leading SaaS provider credentialing company, and the founder of Payor Enrollment Services, the industry’s leading solution for accelerated and accurate payor enrollment. Previously, Patrick was National Director, Credentialing and Enrollment Services at HCA Inc., and Director of Managed Care at HCA Physician Services. Prior to HCA Patrick held senior roles within hospital administration, and national PPO and HMO organizations. Patrick holds a BBA and an MBA from Millsaps College.
Vice President, Controller
K.C. is responsible for symplr’s accounting, tax, reporting and compliance activities. He brings 15 years of accounting and finance experience to symplr. Prior to joining symplr, K.C. was the Corporate Controller for Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies, a global provider to the oil and gas industry. Previously, K.C. was a Manager with KPMG, LLP in the Audit practice serving a variety of industries. He is a licensed CPA, with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Christian University and a Master in Professional Accounting from The University of Texas at Austin.
Vice President of Marketing
Adam is responsible for executing the marketing strategy and managing the daily operations of the marketing team. He brings 20 years of marketing management, team leadership and brand strategy to symplr. Prior to joining symplr, Adam was the VP of Corporate Marketing & Operations at Cradlepoint, the global leader in LTE Networking solutions. Prior roles include being the VP of Marketing at RemitDATA and VP of Business Development & Operations at mundayMorning. He holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism from The University of Mississippi.
Chief Operating Officer
As Chief Operating Officer, Tres Thompson brings nearly 30 years of financial, sales and business development experience to symplr. Most recently he served in senior executive positions at Cardtronics, a leading provider of fully integrated ATM and financial kiosk products and services, where he helped lead the company through several mergers and acquisitions and an IPO. Thompson’s experience spans multiple industries including financial services, enterprise software and technology, energy, and private equity and venture capital. He also has international business development and leadership experience and is a licensed CPA. Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Trinity University.
Chief Marketing and Product Officer
As Chief Marketing and Product Officer, Brian Fugere leads all marketing, engineering, product, and User Experience (UX) design efforts in the company. Bringing almost 30 years of go-to-market experience in software companies of all sizes, Fugere was most recently the CMO of Virence Health, a carve out from GE Healthcare. Prior roles include President of The Estimating Edge, COO and CMO of RemitDATA, as well as leadership positions at Belo Interactive, Stryker, and America Online. A self-described “utility infielder," Fugere has deep experience in executive leadership, marketing, product, sales, and operations across public, private equity, and venture-backed companies. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, an MBA from George Mason University, and completed a leadership and business program at Harvard Business School.
Senior Vice President & General Manager, Provider Management
Amie Teske is responsible for the overall leadership of symplr’s provider management business for hospital, managed care and payer customers. Amie has spent more than 20 years in Healthcare IT leading business to scalable and sustainable growth. Amie previously founded Topline Advisory, a sales advisory firm. Prior to that role, she led global healthcare strategy and solutions at Lexmark Enterprise Software, a market-leading enterprise content management platform for document and medical imaging. She has also served in sales, account management and implementation field and leadership roles at Perceptive Software, Streamline Health and Cerner Corporation.
Vice President, Product Management
Tracey has 20+ years technical and business experience in software marketing, design, development and leadership. At symplr she leads the product management team responsible for the strategy and direction of all symplr products. Tracey joined the symplr organization through the Cactus software merger where she led the roll-out of the next generation Cactus web based Provider Credentialing platform. Prior to Cactus Tracey held multiple senior leadership positions at DST Systems where she led time-critical software product development projects budgeted up to $30M+ with teams of 300+ staff while working with team around the world. Tracey holds a BS in Industrial Psychology with an emphasis in computer science and spent many years as a software developer.
Vice President of Business Operations
Taylor is responsible for the operational success of symplr’s business units by partnering with business leaders to define strategic goals and drive execution. Additionally, Taylor is responsible for Sales Operations, Salesforce CRM, the Quote-to-Cash process, and Business Intelligence. He also leads large scale projects to integrate corporate acquisitions into the symplr ecosystem. Previously, he was the Director of Services at symplr where he oversaw the implementation and account management teams for vendor and general credentialing with a focus on customer success. Before joining symplr, Taylor was the Founder and CEO of SupportChoice, a rapidly growing remote tech support company providing white labeled support for consumer software companies and cloud-based desktops to small and medium sized businesses. He holds a BA in Business Economics from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Rice University with honors.
Karlene Kerfoot, PhD, RN, FAAN
Chief Nursing Officer
As CNO, Karlene is responsible for integrating the science of patient care, staffing, and clinical informatics into symplr solutions. Prior to joining symplr in 2011, she was the Corporate Chief Nursing and Patient Care Officer at three of the largest US healthcare systems. Previously she held positions in clinical practice, healthcare consulting, project management and academic appointments in Business Administration and Nursing. She holds a PhD from the University of Illinois, Chicago, an MA and BSN from the University of Iowa and has completed executive leadership programs at the Wharton School for Nurse Executives. Karlene has published over 400 articles in the areas of data-driven staffing, workforce management, leadership and patient safety. She writes a popular column on leadership for Nursing Economic$ and serves on the DAISY Foundation Board. She was elected as a Fellow to the American Academy of Nursing (FAAN), and has received numerous awards and honors.
