HOUSTON - MAY 17, 2016symplr®, a leading provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) based healthcare compliance and credentialing solutions, today announced their upcoming webcast “Re-Thinking Patient Collection Strategies.” Part of the symplr Education Series focused on Payor Enrollment, the webcast will air on Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 12 p.m. CT/1 p.m. ET. With the dramatic increase in high-deductible health plans, patients are becoming many healthcare organizations’ top payers. On average, about 30 percent of a practice’s total revenue comes from patients. This is a drastic change for many healthcare organizations. In the past, writing off patient responsibility as bad debt was a common practice, but it is no longer a financially viable strategy for most organizations.

In this symplr webcast, speaker Jim Wharton, Vice President of Product Marketing at Navicure, will show attendees how to effectively collect from patients during pre-service, time of service, and post-service and avoid costly bad debt write-offs. Wharton will cover trends in consumer-directed healthcare; pre-service, time-of-service and post-service patient collection strategies; and newer payment models and technology to expedite patient collections. Also, this webcast has been approved by NAMSS for one continuing education credit.

“Healthcare organizations are having to switch gears when it comes to payment collections since patients are now responsible for more out-of-pocket,” said Patrick Birmingham, Senior Vice President of Operations at symplr. “Jim Wharton helped research and develop Navicure’s leading patient pay solution and will use his expertise to help attendees re-think patient collection processes.”
