The Joint Commission works with the healthcare industry to improve care for the public through surveys and audits of healthcare facilities. The Joint Commission conducts several types of surveys including the Conditions of Participation (CoP) required for participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. They also survey healthcare facilities in order to provide information for self-improvement and external assessment. Surveys can be “subscribed” and expected and also unannounced.

In this webcast, Dr. Jon Phillip Spiers, MD, JD, will prepare attendees for both types of surveys by providing tips to help you deal with a task that might otherwise seem overwhelming. This webcast also is eligible for NAMSS continuing education (CE) credits for attendees. For more information, visit https://www.namss.org/Education/NAMSSContinuingEducationOpportunities.aspx

“The Joint Commission provides healthcare facilities with a standard to measure patient safety and quality of care through their surveys and audits,” said Rick Pleczko, President and CEO of symplr. “While not mandatory, these audits can lead to the unintended consequences of organizational misery and financial harm, if a facility is not prepared for them. Dr. Spiers’ experience as a heart surgeon and lawyer has helped many healthcare organizations ensure their levels of patient care and safety meet the Joint Commission’s standards.”
